Fieldwork should not be done without some considerations
Safety & Respectful Engagement
Always work in pairs and avoid putting yourself in unsafe situations. Trust your instincts, and approach community members with courtesy and respect.
Context Awareness
Go beyond what is immediately visible. Aim to understand the deeper historical, social, and cultural context of the area and its people.
Reflexivity
Regularly reflect on your own perspective, assumptions, and emotional responses. Being aware of your biases strengthens the integrity of your observations.
Teamwork & Documentation
Share your notes, observations, and photos in a shared group folder to support collective learning. Record information in ways that make it easier to analyse later, such as organizing by themes or categories.
